History of High Frequency

As we are continually looking for ways to take care of our skin and rejuvenate it, a treatment that has gained popularity in the skin care industry is high frequency. Giving you a little history behind the treatment, originally high frequency was not used for skin care purposes. Instead, it was used to treat antibacterial infections such as strep throat. The scientist Nikola Tesla invented it in the 1800s. But later on in the 1970’s, it was discovered that when a high-frequency current was applied to the skin it constructed heat, which produces an innate reduction of core blood vessels, eliminating toxins. It is still widely used today for its germicidal effect on the skin and its anti-aging benefits.

What happens during treatment?

Enriched oxygen molecules are produced that create an anti-bacterial action and a "natural" thermal tissue warming. The dilation of the underlying vessels pushes away toxins, while the cells enjoy a feast of increased nutrients and hydrating volume. This result is in an increase in blood circulation and cell renewal as well as increased production levels of collagen and elastin which soften and smooth away wrinkles, reduce pore size and improve overall skin texture.

The skin is left feeling instantly energised and noticeably softer after just one treatment. This technique treats the skin at a cellular level. Reducing sebum production from inside the cell, meaning less oily, less chance of skin breakouts.

Due to its rapid rate of oscillation, high frequency does not cause muscular contractions. Instead, it works on the principle of skin toning. This electrotherapy facial is an essential skin rejuvenating treatment.

How often do I need to get treatment?

This can be added to an existing facial treatment or you can book this as a treatment on its own. Multiple treatments are required in quick succession, then we can space them out once every 4 weeks to maintain results. Once a week is recommended for the first 6-8 treatments.

TONE &
TEXTURE

High frequency increases oxygen to the skin, improving the overall texture, tone, and glow of the complexion. All of this promotes collagen stimulation and elastin production, providing a firmer and more youthful appearance. The oscillation produced by high frequency aids in lymphatic drainage and helps to evenly disperse excess fluid. Pores can appear reduced and texture improved.

MANAGE
ACNE

High Frequency has a germicidal effect by oxygenating the surface of the skin, killing P. acne bacteria at cellular level, stimulates circulation and aids in detoxification, contracts blood vessels minimizing red inflamed skin. This treatment also can aid in shrinking pores and stopping persistent acne in its tracks with some clients noticing changes in a few days.

FOR
AGING

In treating aging skin, high frequency current firms and tones by causing an immediate circulation rush to the skin in addition to subtle tissue warming. These functions cause a very safe and natural contraction of the underlying blood vessels and tiny muscle groups. This subtle but effective tissue warming stimulates the fibroblasts increasing collagen and elastin production improving the skins laxity and overall appearance.

The application of high frequency current to the skin also promotes a natural cleansing and antibacterial action that helps treat existing acne and prevents the onset of new acne.

Clients experiencing cystic acne will benefit greatly from the deep penetrating germicidal action of high frequency.

The skin is left feeling instantly energized, rosy, firm, refreshed and noticeably softer — even after just one treatment. The enriched oxygen molecules produced by high frequency machines are safe and have been proven to be effective in helping to heal and restore the skin’s health.
